Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Mender to join our skilled team. You will be responsible for checking and repairing defects in woven fabrics to ensure only the highest quality cloth proceeds to the next stage of production.

Responsibilities

• Inspect woven fabrics for faults
• Mend or remove defects to meet quality standards
• Work collaboratively in a highly experienced mending department

Preferred Requirements

• Essential: Experience mending worsted, mohair, woollen, or cashmere fabrics
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team

Further training will be provided for the right candidate

Working Hours

• Full-time: 39.25 hours/week
  • Mon – Thurs: 7:30am – 4:15pm
  • Fri: 7:30am – 2:00pm
• Flexible or reduced hours considered for suitable applicants

FABRIC WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

An opportunity for someone to join our small warehouse team involved in the packing, despatch and warehousing of luxury suiting fabric manufactured on site in Bradford and exported worldwide.

The role also entails operating fabric rolling machinery and cutting and preparing sample lengths for customers and pattern books.

The ideal candidate will have a “can do” attitude, be a team player with an eye for detail and someone who takes pride in doing a job well, working methodically and accurately.

Experience in a textile background is preferred but not essential.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITITES

This is not an exhaustive list of duties but gives an outline of the role and responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities include.

• Preparing and packing rolls of fabric for despatch. Particular attention to presentation is important.
• Operating machinery to fold fabric to half width often including measuring tapes.
• Cutting samples from pieces as requested for customers and pattern books and keeping accurate records of the same.
• Loading and unloading fabric rolls which requires a level of physical fitness as lifting is required as well as operating manual handling equipment.
• Stock control and warehousing.
• Use of TMS system for entering despatch details, inventory checking and processing despatch.

General Duties

• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to company Health & Safety Policy and Procedures at all times.
• Any other suitable tasks the business feels are appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Good written and spoken English.
Computer Literate.

PREFERRED SKILLS

FLT Licence Holder or willingness to train.
Good communication skills
Able to work as part of a small team.
Reliable and flexible especially during busy periods

Experienced Overlooker/Weaving Technician

Pay: £40,000.00-£43,000.00 per year

We produce luxurious pure wool and cashmere worsted suiting with a meticulous emphasis on quality. Stanley Mills Weavers is part of the SIL Holdings Group of Companies.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Dornier Overlooker to join our small, skilled, and dynamic weaving team based in Bradford. Working on a rotating double day shift system, you will be one of two shift overlookers responsible for the day-to-day operation, efficiency, and quality of our 19 Dornier looms.

Applicants with experience on other loom types will be considered, with training provided where required.

Key Responsibilities
This role includes, but is not limited to:

• Gear changes
• Starting knot-ups
• Carrying out quality checks
• Efficiency and quality tuning
• Routine loom maintenance and fault resolution

Flexibility and a willingness to assist across all areas of weaving production are essential.

Shift Pattern (Rotating)

Week 1 (40 hours):

• Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 2:00pm

Week 2 (40 hours):

• Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
• Friday: 11:30am – 7:30pm

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as an Overlooker / Loom Tuner (essential)
• Experience with Dornier looms preferred (training available if required)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Winder Bobbin Maker

We are looking for a Winder Bobbin Maker to join our team and support the preparation of yarn for our weaving department.

The Role
This is a hands-on role within our textile manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for winding yarn and producing bobbins to the required standards, ensuring that yarn is prepared accurately and efficiently for the weaving process.

Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within the textile industry.

Key Responsibilities
Winding & Bobbin Making

• Set up and operate winding machines to prepare yarn packages.
• Produce selvedge and name-edge bobbins for the weaving department.
• Ensure yarn is wound accurately and to the required specifications.

Quality Control

• Inspect bobbins and yarn for defects.
• Identify and report any tension variations or quality issues.
• Maintain high standards of quality and consistency.

Other Duties
Creeling

• Assist the warping department with loading yarn packages onto creel frames.

Housekeeping

• Clear and remove empty and loaded boxes from the warping department and yarn store.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
